Lord, have Mercy!!!!

The past few days have been overwhelming not just for me, but for many people. My FYP has been filled with heartbreaking stories of grown men sexually assaulting little kids. It feels like a new sickness has spread among us, yet it’s one that has existed long before our generation and even those before us. What hurts most is that many of these perpetrators have gone unpunished.

I have cried, gotten angry, and even thought of taking a break from social media. But I realized that if I stay away and maybe others do too, we might lose the cause we’re fighting for. Hearing that Ochanya’s case was reopened gave me a sense of hope. It reminded me that our voices matter. That speaking up, even online, can make a difference for those like Ochanya, who didn’t get justice for what was done to them.

Before I go further, I’ll be citing a few examples and touching on areas that might be sensitive for some readers. I hope we learn, share our thoughts, and never stop fighting for what truly matters.

I would begin by stating that this is a human rights issue, not only one involving women; in reality, men have been raped as well. So, if you think this doesn’t concern you or that women should only fight for it, you’re deceiving yourself. You would have a wife one day or already have one, a daughter one day or already have one, and you have a mother and sister. Nothing is more terrible than witnessing your loved ones suffer and knowing you have no power or control over the situation.

That is why we need to talk about rape culture because it appears to have become the standard, and people seem to be unconcerned. This people believe it is their right. They believe it is enjoyable. They believe it is rewarding and gives them a sense of control. It is incredibly horrible and nasty that people use not just their penis, but also other objects, most of which are sharp, to inflict agony on others. You must be a retard to do that; there is nothing you can tell me. And if you have done or plan to do this, I pray that even death should be mercy for you. I hope you are in horrible pain and beg to die before the judicial system catches up with you.

I’d also like to point out that a case of rape is extremely difficult to prove in court, even with multiple pieces of evidence, which is why most of these people get free or it takes years to get them in jail and usually receive a lower sentence. The terrible part is that there are always people there to protect them. I spoke with a friend in law school recently, and he remarked that, as awful as it is, you must “Proof beyond Reasonable Doubt” that the rape occurred. He went on to say that while it is a difficult topic, if there is little proof and not a strong lawyer, the judge has little or no say in the matter. He stated that the reason is due to persons being wrongfully accused.

He remarked something that struck a chord with me and that I believe could have been used used in the legal field. He said “It is better to let 9 criminals go than to have 1 innocent man go to jail”

I argued with him yesterday, but he is definitely in the legal world and will not see things my way, which irritated me to no end.

I cited the case of Ochanya to him and how the Aunt was jailed for 6 months (i think) for negligence, the uncle was set free and the son was not even charged at all. He said the boy was not found and a person cannot be charged in absential. I countered that the Aunt being charged with negligence for 6 months already proved that it did happen but why is the uncle free? The nurse that treated her stated in her interview that she was lifeless from her toe to her waist area, also she was passing pee and stool uncontrollable and had to wear diapers most of the time. What evidence could be enough than that?

He said the Ochanya case seems rushed and the case was ruined because of that. He further said to make a rape case look bigger, the lawyer has to add other related offenses so that if the court doesn’t convict for rape, the perpetrator will be convicted for the other crimes, which in fact means the rape issue has not been convicted.

It’s crazy, guys; my whole body was hot when I heard that. I mean, isn’t rape a bigger issue already? He said it’s painful for lawyers too, but as a lawyer, you don’t let your emotions get the best of you. I can’t help but think about how the justice system is flawed on issues like this. What do you mean there are medical records, the victim cannot control their pee and poo and many more, and I still have to prove it beyond ‘reasonable doubt’?

Yesterday, I learned of the tragedy of baby Khloe, who was raped by her uncle when she was just four years old. Khloe’s father in fact tried to cover the case and protect the uncle alongside the church but her mother never stopped fighting. The legal team got tired at some point and the case was brought on social media, that is where it got the fire. People protested and did all sorts and they finally got justice after 4 years if i am correct. 4 years of her mother constantly praying and being everywhere to fight justice for her little girl. The man was jailed for 28years. 14years for the rape and 14years for violating a minor. Cases like this takes years most times.

In all honesty, 95% of girls have experienced sexual assault at some point in their lives. It doesn’t have to be rape; it could be someone touching their buttocks, a foolish area brother staring at a young girl, or remarks like;

Men as old as 45year old would catcall eight-year-old girls and tell them they like them. If you think I’m lying, sit down with any girl you know and find out if anyone has ever done that to them when they were younger. It’s because we frequently overlook them, accept it as the norm, or say things like “men will be men.” But how much longer must we baby these men? For what length of time can we disregard sick behavior? I think that a man who can smile at your eight-year-old sister and remark, “Your breast is growing,” must have thought about it. And if it is left to linger, it might result to rape. Even brothers, fathers and uncles are raping their loved ones, what hope do we have?

Parents cover up their kid’s sexual crimes and watch them become monsters to society. Wives even covers up for their husband’s heartless act. Are you sick as a woman? An heartless man hurt your baby girl or your niece who is like a daughter to you and all in the name of “staying married”, you cover it up?

It’s crazy that we now have to tell grown men that it’s a bad thing to have sex with minors. We have to protest and beg them that they are little kids. We also have to teach them that even a grown woman saying “NO” means “NO” and they shouldn’t push further. We have to teach them that women have the right to their body, not them. It is sad really that people can hate on homosexual, people of other religion, people with certain body type, gossip other people and act normal to cases of rape like it is a norm. Like its traumatizing and painful, it leaves a mark on them forever. Do you get?

Guys, do you know married women also get raped by their husband? That is even not a crime apparently because he is the husband. So you mean if i don’t want to have sex, my husband can force himself on me.

Spewwwwww. We really have a lot to do with my Lovelies.

Do we really have to wait till people take laws into their own hands? People don’t report thieves anymore because they know they will be set free. They give them jungle justice. Do we have to wait till the time Jungle justice is served?

We are all affected by this evil, so I hope we never stop fighting and that it stays far away. And for those who have experienced it, may God grant them the fortitude to put it behind them and move on. It’s really hard but i hope so

My brother was gisting us about a 9yr old boy and girl in pry 5 in his school caught watching porn. I couldn’t help but think that the elders at home must have exposed them to it and I think that their curiosity is what makes them watch it.

To those who rape people, minor or not or believe in the movement of being raped and support the idea or even thought of it. I hope you get isolated from society because you do not deserve to live among humans and I hope you feel more agony worse than death itself.

This isn’t just about gender, it’s about justice, empathy, and humanity. Until the system truly protects the vulnerable, we must keep speaking, educating, and demanding accountability.
